This is an introduction to the materials and techniques of painting and drawing for all students. Working from direct observation and a variety of subject matter, this class will focus on color and basic concepts of form, light, and composition.

Learn the art and science of taking great pictures through lecture and hands-on practice. Topics include: aperture, ISO, shutter speed, white balance, equipment & accessories and basics of composition. Requirements: SLR or mirror-less camera with at least one lens (around 35-50 mm recommended), tripod recommended but not required.

Train your eye to “see” shapes of color and then transfer that information to the canvas. Sometimes all it takes is having someone point out what you should be looking at to solve the puzzle. Participate in exercises that will help strengthen your ability to reduce any object to its simplest form. Correctly compose and render your scene in precise proportions and perspective and gain a better understanding of the use of values, shapes and edges to portray your 3D image on a 2D surface. Utilizing instruction, demos and hands-on painting, this workshop is kept small enough to insure plenty of one-on-one time with the instructor.

Very traditional class on canning tomatoes, tomato sauce, and stewed tomatoes, and may even get juiced.
- Infused and Amused
Tuesday, August 11, 6-8 pm
A fun class on infusing flavors into oils, vinegars and alcohol. The primary focus of this class will
be making various types of cellos, including limoncello.

Interested in increasing your swirl knowledge? Wine tasting and vineyard education a glass at a time. Wine will be paired with cheeses from Udderly Cool Creamery. This cheese is handcrafted in west central Georgia by cheesemakers/owners Jeff and Karen Green. The Georgia creamery has focused on handcrafting exceptionally aged and seasoned, classic cheeses, like Gouda, and Pepper Jack.
