Join artist and professor at the University of West Georgia, Clint Samples for an afternoon of watercolor painting. Tailored for all levels, this workshop explores watercolor as a versatile and fun medium to use. We will discuss various watercolor techniques, gesture and contour drawing styles, along with the color wheel and approaches to color mixing. Come work at your own pace with guidance and feedback from the instructor.
A native of Carrollton, Clint Samples is a Professor of Art and an Associate Dean for the University of West Georgia’s College of Arts, Culture, and Scientific Inquiry. Clint is also a 1996 alumnus of the University of West Georgia (UWG) with a BFA in Painting and a BA in Art Education. He earned his MFA in Studio Art from Florida State University in 1998. Prior to UWG, Clint worked as a textile designer for Milliken and Company (1999-2004).

Brenda has developed a unique and condensed method of teaching so that everyone can experience the exciting medium of watercolor. She has created twelve original drawings for the crash course series, including subjects such as birds, flowers and architecture and will demonstrate how to transfer one of these line drawings to your watercolor paper. This saves a lot of time and no drawing skills are needed. You will get right to work mixing and applying colors and learning basic watercolor techniques. You will be walked, step by step, through the entire process and in just four hours, you will have the satisfaction of finishing a small painting to take home. You will be amazed what you can accomplish!
Acrylic Painting with Stephanie Norton

Stephanie Norton was born along the river in Natchez, Mississippi. Having grown up next to the river, and in one of the oldest and most historical European settlements, her love for the outdoors and public history grew tremendously. At a young age her family then moved to Georgia, where the beauty of the South still continues to captivate her soul and fuel a fire for her creative endeavors. Stephanie is a Graduate of The University of West Georgia with a M.Ed. and B.F.A. in Art Education. Her graduate studies included a semester studying Advanced Art History and Watercolor painting in Bayeux and Paris, France. Currently, Stephanie resides in Carrollton, Georgia, teaching high school visual arts.

Each session meets from 6:00 – 7:30pm in the CCL. The goal is to meet on the first Monday of the month unless that is a holiday.

This self-directed figure drawing session in the round featuring a live model allows artists to develop fundamental skills in rendering the human form including proportion and perspective through the direct observation and analysis of anatomy and musculature. Session requires a minimum of four participants with advanced reservations for each.

Drawing and Painting with Steve Close
Tuesdays, 6 – 8pm (minimum of 5 participants required)
or Wednesdays, 10:00am-12:00pm or 1:00-3:00pm
4 Classes: $100, $95 member
This is an introduction to the materials and techniques of painting and drawing for all students. Working from direct observation and a variety of subject matter, this class will focus on color and basic concepts of form, light, and composition.
