Tickets are $40 each and may be purchased by calling the Art Museum (706-882-3267)
The LaGrange Art Museum will once again celebrate spring with Art N’ Bloom, a benefit luncheon that combines fresh floral arrangements and the fine art that inspired the arrangements.
This year’s event, a floral Interpretation of the Museum’s Permanent Collection and Luncheon will take place on Thursday, May 5th at 10:30am at the Del’avant Event Center and will feature “The Artists Among Us”, three inspiring speakers who will describe how the creative process and art have enriched their lives and contributed to their achievements.
Honorees this year will include Janis Kish former Museum board member, floral designer and artist who has been a longtime patron of the arts and is credited with founding Art N’ Bloom.
Amy Orr, Artistic Director of the Lafayette Ballet Company and Callie Knight Hammond, Director of the LaGrange Symphony Youth Orchestra String Ensemble are also honorees. Each of these women have made a significant contribution to the creative landscape in LaGrange and to young lives.
Art N’ Bloom is a fundraising approach that enables patrons to support the museum financially while enjoying a museum program that particularly appeals to them. “We’re very excited about this event,” said Board President Bobby Cammon, “The response so far has been tremendous. We are thrilled that this is now an annual event, and that this year it had taken a truly unique and creative turn”

Monster Mash: It’ll be a Graveyard Smash
Imagine the best Halloween party ever, and you’ll get the scene…. A Monster Mash — it’ll be a graveyard smash! On October 24th, 2015 from 7:00pm to the bewitching hour, the ghouls will be coming from miles around to benefit the LaGrange Art Museum. In an abandoned Victorian mansion where the vampires feast (the former In Clover restaurant located at 205 Broad Street in LaGrange) the scene will be rockin’ and they’ll be diggin’ the sounds!
This benefit for the LaGrange Art Museum will feature a host of creepy cocktails at Dr. Frankenstein’s “Dry Ice Lab”, dancing to the spine-chilling Halloween sounds of “monster music”, Ms. Sonia the Palm Reader, and food by Jeffrey Tucker fit for a zombie feast.
And, don’t forget that to scare up a fright, costumes are must on this freaky night. Awards will be given – for scariest, most original, most outrageous, and silliest — so do it right.
The event committee consisting of Art Museum board members and volunteers Al Brannon, Connie Boccucci, Nanci Lechacz, Mary Higgins, Marlene Rhodes and Jackie Terrail have left no gravestone unturned as they have come up with a host of clever ideas to make this party a success. Props, special light effects and hauntings will be staged by talented members of the Art Museum staff.
This event would not be possible without the generosity of Dr. & Mrs. Michael Lock, Service Master, Lynn Morgan, Patrick and Jackie Terrail and Dr. George and Nanci Lechacz.
Tickets are required for this gated event (no walk ups allowed) at $75 per person and are available by calling the Art Museum at 706-882-3267.
The Creative Learning Project
The Center for Creative Learning (CCL), which sits immediately adjacent to the 50 year
old beloved Museum is currently part of a downtown re-development “Creative Place
Making” project (financed through public and private funds) that will bring together the local community, multiple arts agencies, and residents through the re-design and adaptive re-use and rehabilitation of a former c.1890’s Feed & Seed into a vibrant, three-part, mixed-use multi-art space. Located on the highly visible gateway corner of Lafayette Parkway and Morgan Street, this building is the first building obvious to visitors as they enter the City of LaGrange. The soon-to-be-renovated Center for Creative Learning will be the focal point of the corner and will leverage the Museum as a source of community pride.
When complete, the CCL will encompass a parking area featuring an artist designed and installed exterior mural, a catering kitchen, bike racks, artists’ studios, fire rated kiln, potters wheels, sinks, a box office, and a full wall of glass garage doors which will roll open and provide light into this environmentally efficient space that will be used by large groups of pre-school, and in-school children, adults and seniors, by community art and civic groups as well as a Technology Classroom that will facilitate the use of the Museum as a vehicle for learning. When complete, the CCL will become a center where learning takes on a truly creative and colorful tone.
In 2010, the Museum’s Board of Governors and Executive Director undertook a long-range study to determine ways in which the Museum could appropriately expand its services to state and regional audiences and position itself for relevance in its next 50 years.
As the Troup County School system began implementing sweeping cuts to public school arts and music programs the Museum’s Education Task Force simultaneously began to see its role as essential in helping to provide arts education to all students, particularly those most at-risk who need fundamental skills benefitted by exposure to the arts.
Today, the Art Museum is proud of growing relationships with a wide array of community partners and the many programs we deliver. Our education partners include: Boy Scouts of the Chattahoochee Council, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, City of LaGrange, Circles of Troup County, the Cochran Gallery, the Junior Service League, the LaGrange College Lamar Dodd School of Art, LaGrange Housing Authority, LaGrange Academy, LaGrange Music Studio, Lafayette Society for Performing Arts, LaGrange Symphony Orchestra, Keep Troup Beautiful, Poplar Creek, Twin Cedars, Troup County Public Library System, Troup County Public Schools, Troup County Chamber of Commerce, Vernon Woods Retirement Center and West Georgia Technical College.
By expanding its role and utilizing its resources to support educational efforts the Museum will facilitate the development of cultural identity within the next generation, foster community pride and sense of place among its youngest citizens – ensuring that Arts Education is a permanent part of our future.
