Artist Talk: Yuichiro Komatsu
Yuichiro Komatsu is a contemporary ceramic artist and educator originally from Tokyo, Japan, whose work and teaching reflect an international career in art and academia. He studied at Parsons School of Design, earned his BFA from the State University of New York at New Paltz, apprenticed with renowned ceramicist Toshiko Takaezu, and received his MFA from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University. A recipient of the DAAD Postgraduate Research Fellowship in Germany, Komatsu has exhibited widely in the United States, Europe, Asia, and South America and has participated in prestigious artist residencies around the world. He has taught at several leading institutions and currently serves as Professor of Art at Columbus State University, where he is based in Columbus, Georgia.
